Our Culture’s obsession with body image and weight has gotten a little, can we say, cuckoo. When objectively thin models must be digitally airbrushed and shrunken ahead of print… something’s amiss.
Healthy, vibrant women with curves are being called fat. Already skinny women are starving themselves to lose even more. Young girls are being placed on restrictive diets before they’re in need of bras.
It’s a mess. And for what?
As if there’s an objective standard of beauty that’s universal. As if physical preference wasn’t subjective. As if feeling great required you to see your ribs, have a thigh gap, and be rocking abs.
On last check, beauty still lied in the eye of the beholder. More importantly, it comes in many shades and shapes.
It’s time to stop trying to force your body to be something it’s not. You only get one time around this ride we call life and this opportunity deserves more.
